Football and Education
As part of The King’s enrichment programme, we have partnered up with Port Vale football club this year who, alongside providing expert coaching for football will also create opportunities for 16-19 year olds (male and female) to compete at a high level in the EFL Community Education Alliance League against other professional football clubs. This is open to all students and not just those who are keen pursue a career in the football industry or are taking Level 3 Physical Education.
Twice a week, after school, students will receive UEFA standard coaching from Port Vale staff to aid technical, tactical, physical and social development. From here, on a Wednesday, students will then take part in match games.
To support this practical element, students will also complete an FA Level 1 coaching qualification and an FA referee qualification which are both suitable for progression to university for future employment.
Every Wednesday afternoon, students will take part in match days where they will:
Play home games at Bradeley Football Centre
Take part in the EFL U19 CEFA League/ ECFA Women’s League
Engage with Match Day reports/ Live social media feeds/ Player profiles/statistics
Receive end of season awards
Additional benefits
Students can apply for work placement within Port Vale Foundation / Port Vale FC
Wider access to career pathways
