A number of Year 9 students took part in a careers morning on Monday 10th July.

Learn to Earn motivates students by encouraging them to consider financial plans for the future, set goals and think about their study options as they approach KS4. The morning was run by business community volunteers, who each worked with a group over the course of the morning to provide students with a clearer understanding of the routes to jobs and careers that they will find engaging and rewarding.

The morning was full of hands-on practical activities and covered topics such as personal skills and talents, career choices, recruitment, job interviews, salaries, earnings, tax and the cost of living, financial planning and budgeting. Each student received a personal copy of a Jobs Directory, detailing more than 95 jobs across 37 industry sectors. Students used this to record labour market information, their personal goals and next steps.

Students enjoyed their morning and we are very grateful to Simon and his team, from the Young Enterprise organisation, for his support in organising and running the event, and to the team of volunteers from Young Enterprise and the business community for delivering such informative workshops to Year 9.
